Pastor Matt Installed

Pastor Matthew Wheeler conducted a question and answer session during his first official Sunday sermon Aug. 12, much to the delight of the congregation.
Pastor Dennis Mueller installs Pastor Wheeler Aug. 5 during a special service.  Pastor Mueller is a Bishop's Assistant with Northwest Ohio Synod, ELCA.  It was a great day as the church moves toward its 177th year.  Thanks to Michelle Delmer for photo.

Matthew S. Wheeler, Toledo area native and recent graduate of Trinity Seminary has accepted our call to serve as our pastor.  He was ordained at his home church, Holy Trinity in Toledo on July 14. Several  members of FLC attended.  We welcome Matt and look forward to serving Our Lord with him.

Then prospective pastor Matt Wheeler addresses an enthusiastic crowd on May 15 in the Social Hall during a meet and greet session.  On Sunday, May 20,the congregation unanimously voted to extend a call to Matt to be our new pastor. He is expected to begin his duties early August after completing seminary and being ordained..

Matt Wheeler enjoys some ice cream punch while he is introduced to everyone attending the evening event.  Brian Shifley, call committee member, looks on.  Matt was treated to a tour of the city and dinner before the meeting.

Council Vice-President Kevin McNeal looks over the agenda with Northwest Synod Assistant to the Bishop Kathy Shibler prior to Sunday's congregational vote. Kathy worked closely with the call committee for the past two years helping to locate a new pastor.  She was the guest preacher for the worship before the meeting.

More to follow...stay tuned!
