 Habitat for Humanity 2010

On July 11, a group of 13 young people and adults traveled to New Kensington PA to volunteer a week of service with the local habitat affiliate in the Allegheny Valley region. The HFHAV newsletter article can be found here

Although there were no houses to build, our group was able to provide much needed help in several other areas.

There was a lot of painting inside the affiliate's ReStore building which also was our home for the week.  Other activities included painting donated furniture in the ReStore and re-arranging the ReStore warehouse.

In 2008, this group worked on a duplex property in Natrona, PA.  One half was sold that year, the other half remained empty until a qualified family was found. A Dedication Open House was set for later in July and much cleaning working inside and out of the property was needed.  So we scrubbed, dusted, cleaned windows and pulled weeds followed by a layer of new mulch.

Natrona Comes Together was another beneficiary of this hard-working crew as we applied a coat of brick color paint on boarded windows to match the existing brick.  The old hotel/bank building is being renovated and hopefully an investor will purchase it as part of the community's effort to "take back the town."

Christ's presence was felt during the week as witnessed in this special interview video which was presented to the congregation on our return.
