92 QUILTED COMFORTS were blessed and distributed to Lutheran World Relief and locally. Many thanks to Joan and Bill Smith, Geneva Buchanan, Emily Renock, Nancy Hall, Ruth Williams, any anyone else who helped; for lovingly assembling and quilting the comforts.

GOD & COUNTRY recital was presented on the afternoon of Oct.4 in honor of those serving or who have served in defense of our nation.  Donations from the recital will be used to offset the care packages for the military program created by Marge Gledhill.  Seated in front are Army Corporal Aaron Blackburn and Marine LCPL Aaron Hall.  Standing from the left are: Gledhill, and musicians Betty Cocuzza, Jodi Ricker, Thom Richards and Tammy Hart.  A superb musical production featuring a PowerPoint presentation was enjoyed by 120 people.  Thanks to all the efforts of First's talented musicians!

Our Youth have been busy raising funds for their New Orleans adventure. One activity, pay to have a yard "Flamingoed".  Kevin McNeal doesn't have a yard but his car has a flat roof!  Gotchya! Kevin's car gets flamingoed!~

Rick McNeal and wife Sharon, display the quilt he won in a ticket drawing sponsored by the Youth Group.  The quilt is one of two donated by the family of the late Carl Dickinson. Proceeds of the drawing will go towards their trip this summer to New Orleans. The other quilt was won by Jodi Ricker. Thanks to all who purchased tickets and to the Dickinson family.

Secretary Cindy Davis snapped a few views of the January snow...

FLC Youth Group earned some money toward their trip to New Orleans next summer by helping  Alinda (Dickinson) Wasner tend a garage sale at the home of her late father, Carl Dickinson this fall.

Thanks, Alinda!

US Army Specialist Heath Hall smiles as he poses with Marge Gledhill, Dec. 14 following the baptism of his daughter Emma Leigh. Heath was home from Korea for Christmas and the baptism and was expected to return to Korea after the holiday.  Another one of Marge's care package recipients serving our country in the military. Nearly 70 boxes have been sent by Marge with the donations from members of the church.  A selfless project of love and care

Lance Corporal Spencer Carr is joined by Pastor Matt and Marge Gledhill after services Oct. 5.  Spencer was home on leave from the Middle East and attended church and thank Marge and others for the many care packages sent to servicemen. Since Marge started the package mailings nearly 1,000 pounds of goodies have been sent overseas. Thank you Marge!

Marge gets a big hug from PFC J.J. Bell in August when he visited FLC to thank everyone for the "care packages" he and others have received while serving in Iraq. Marge has been responsible for sending 40 boxes of goodies as of the end of August, 2008 thanks to the generous donations of the congregation.  Good job and a salute to both!!
